Tabula Rasa's main priority was to stay classic and traditional, but with a fun twist.

They wanted to break the status quo by bringing a mondern twist to traditional Alicantine gastronomy.

CHALLENGES

  • Maintaining a website is difficult when so many other tasks are a priority

  • Tasting menus require a constant update throughout site

  • No online presence creates lack of trust among clients

  • There are too many social media accounts not controlled by the business

  • The majority of clients come from mouth to mouth and not from activity online or by passers

THE MAIN CHALLENGE

The restaurant was losing valuable clients that couldn't call or book a table without an online booking system OR current information about their seasonal tasting menu

DELIVERABLES

STAKEHOLDER INTERVIEW To review and assess problem statement, pain points, goals and budget

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH 5 users that represent the main personas from the business and competitive anaylsis results completed an interview of 1 hour

SITEMAP A card sorting exercise to help understand users priorities and finalise information arquitecture

DESIGN

BRAND STRATEGY Help the business improve their branding and taking over from previous designer

WIREFRAMES From concept to execution, lo-fi designs and UI library was presented to the client

STAFF TRAINING To have a smooth sailing once project handover is done

INSIGHTS AFTER 1ST LAUNCH

Between September 2022 and January 2023, 117,000 users visited the Google Business profile when searching for restaurants in Alicante. That’s a whooping 83.7% more than between September 2021 and January 2022

WINNING THE BIB GOURMAND AWARD

The famous Michelin company has awarded the restaurant for 3 consecutive years of their special Bib Gourmand, a commemoration to restaurants providing high cuality customer service and food at an affordable price.    

Only one more restaurant has been given the same awards around the Valencian region.

RE-ASSESSING 

THE LAUNCH

1st time launching and advertising the website + updating the social profiles was extermely successful. However, there was some feedback from both the client and the users to look onto the following concerns:

TOO EXCLUSIVE The way in which the restaurant started to be portrayed as was thought of it as too exclusive

SOCIAL MEDIA Management of social media posts, emails and messages from clients from all portals proved to be difficult for the business

RESERVATION SYSTEM The reservation system needed a lot of improvement due to the limited hours the restaurant is open

NEW FEATURES Optimization of gift-cards and online payments, Creation of waiting list, Opening times updateTranslation to English
